The Story Behind the Numbers
Early in my career, one of the first things I remember being told by a mentor “The higher you go, the lonelier it gets” which as a small business owner myself I am well aware of.
Small business owners often find themselves making crucial decisions in isolation. Even with a team in place, the burdens of ownership ultimately rest on their shoulders alone.
This realisation was at the forefront of my mind when I established Focal Business Group. Our mission is to support medium/large and small sized enterprises and their owners with the advisory, financial and accounting aspects of their operations.
Calling on my 30+ years business experience, expertise, and knowledge for the benefit of our clients.
With a real passion for SME’s I enable these businesses to access a level of support they might not otherwise achieve alone. I am a practising Chartered Management Accountant and also a member of the IoD & ICPA.
This is why our business motto is ‘Be in business for yourself, not by yourself.’
The Team Behind the Numbers
The seasoned professionals at the helm of our Senior team are Mike, our Managing Director and Advisory Partner, along with Sam our Accountancy Client Partner,
Harv our Financial Client Partner and Esther our Finance Client Partner.
They are supported by a team of skilled and experienced finance and accountancy professionals collectively possessing a deep well of knowledge and proficiency.
Our support and marketing colleagues back up the wider team, providing highly efficient communication and administration to keep the business running smoothly.
At Focal Business Group, we place a strong emphasis on teamwork, uniting to pursue our passion and cater to our clients’ needs with a blend of professionalism and approachability.

SAM
Accountancy Client Partner
Bringing more than two decades of
expertise in accounting and tax,
Sam plays a crucial role in overseeing the
planning, execution, and completion of
clients’ statutory accounts and tax
obligations. Additionally, he provides
valuable support on various client
advisory projects by leveraging his
extensive knowledge and skills in
accounting and tax
matters.

HARV
Financial Client Partner
Coming from a strong foundation in the
financial services sector, Harvinder
truly knows her stuff when it comes to
finances and is proud to be an ACCA
qualified accountant.
Her sharp analytical skills and knack for
seeing the bigger picture allow her to
offer clients valuable insights, helping
them make smart decisions to grow
their businesses and reach new levels
of success.

ESTHER
Finance Client Partner
With wide range of experience having
worked both in Practice and industry.
Esther trained in 2006 with a Big Four
accountancy firm, becoming a full
member of the ACCA in February 2009
and a Fellow member in 2014.
A Finance Manager with a strong sense
of commercial focus & particular focus
on process improvement and
implementation.

SARAH
Payroll Manager
AKA our payroll guru, Sarah is
always up to speed with the latest
rules and regulations. She is
responsible for the smooth
running of payroll for hundreds of
our clients’ employees each month. Given
her long standing with the business,
Sarah acts as first point of contact for
many of our clients.

ANNE
Senior Finance Assistant
As an experienced professional and also actively completing AAT, Anne is dedicated to assisting our clients with their bookkeeping, VAT returns, and ledger management. She ensures that processes and communication run smoothly, while also providing support to Client Partners in preparing management reports.

ROWAN
Accounts Assistant
Rowan is one of our Accounts
Assistants who supports the wider team in providing an extensive range of finance and accounting services to our clients. His key responsibilities include bookkeeping and ledger processing. He supports the accountancy partner with accounts and tax preparation and deals with client queries. Rowan is currently studying AAT level 4 .

HOLLY
Finance Assistant
AAT qualified, Holly started out as
an Accounts Assistant for a building
contractor, moving on to practice following
this. Holly’s role includes looking after
clients bookkeeping, VAT returns and
ledger management ensuring efficient
processes and communication.

YAMIN
Finance Assistant
As one of our Finance assistants Yamin
works to support our clients with their
bookkeeping, VAT returns and ledger
management, while also supporting the
financial partners with management
report preparation. Alongside his work
he is currently studying towards his level
4 CFAB qualification.

GRACE
Business Support Executive
Grace ensures that everything behind
the scenes is running smoothly and
keeps us all organised. She takes care
of employee wellbeing, health and
safety, contracts, and all other office
duties. When you need to get in touch
with us – Grace will be one of the first
voices you hear on the phone.

AMANDA
Marketing & Commercial Executive
Amanda looks after our marketing
and keeps our website and social media
up to date. Her role includes looking
after client engagement and ensuring
compliance requirements are met, whilst supporting the wider team with weekly
and monthly preparations and compliance.
She is responsible for organising
networking and events.

SABRINA
Business Support Apprentice
Sabrina joined us as on Business
Administration apprenticeship. She is
integral in the smooth running of the
business and along with everyday
business tasks she looks after our
invoicing and supports the team.
She is one of the first voices you will
hear on contacting us.
